On Foot and Bike
There are several perfect places to park and enjoy a peaceful off road walk or cycle to us.
Symonds Yat Rock Car Park: admire the view from the famous viewpoint and then descend via a wooded path to Symonds Yat East below. Of course you will have to walk back up so leave the stilettos at home. About half a mile each way, and it is quite a stiff climb which would not be suitable for the infirm. This option is not suitable for leisure cyclists or young children.
Symonds Yat West Leisure Park: plenty of parking here on a large flat field. Stroll along the riverbank, downstream for about a mile and a half and catch the Saracens Head Ferry across to the East.
Park on The Great Doward, near to Doward Park Campsite and walk down the access road to Biblins Campsite. From here either cross the wire bridge and walk up the left bank of the river, on the course of the old railway, or walk upstream on the right bank and cross on the ferry.
Use The Sustrans Peregrine Trail. Park on Hadnock Road, Monmouth (plenty of on road parking) and take a six mile flat walk or cycle upstream to Symonds Yat East.
Rail
The nearest rail station to us is Lydney offering direct conections to South Wales (Newport, Cardiff, Swansea) and The Midlands (Gloucester, Birmingham). London is only one change away (2h 45).
Bus
National Express operates a few routes that go through Ross-on-Wye (6 miles away). There is a bus that goes from Ross-on-Wye to Monmouth, and stops in Whitchurch, about a mile and a half away.
Plane
We are within easy reach of Bristol airport and Cardiff airport (both within 70 mins) and Birmingham airport (around 90 mins).
